Untitled III
selective hearing leads the deaf astray
wandering into the emptiness
the sound void
listen to only what you want
but think about not listening to yourself
listen to everyone else
lie to yourself
stand alone
a candle burning brightly
think if you could see past the flame
what would you see then?
how could you cope
your new discovery listed in the yellow pages
under archeology
digging away the layers painted on by humans
humans that you didn’t need in the first place
second place in the race
where you feel you belong
where you live because you feel that way
you could do better
but do you care?
do you?
how can you live with your head in a hole?
isn’t it dark?
why does that feel safe?
you should pull your head out and look around you
see life for what it is
look past what you want to see
look to the end of the world
look to the end of the first period
the buzzers going off before you can score a goal
that is the way they want it to be
your only opponents are everyone
society wants simple
society wants same
society wants sane
sanity is overrated
only the crazy people truly live
only the people with small abilities ever fulfill their potential
you are a bomb
with the potential to explode
explode into a ball
a ball that needs more explosions to stay alive
a ball that needs pressure from outside to stay a ball
the life pressure is good
it keeps things in line
the line is drawn on a piece of yellowed paper
you cannot cross the line
you can only walk along it
let it be your lifeline
show others that your line is not straight
straightened lines that run parallel to each other are not fun
if nobody runs perpendicular
nothing is accomplished
life is missed
and the ball of life is dropped and allowed to hit the ground
the ground unforgiving
the harshness of reality when you hit the bottom
standing high may let you see what’s below you
but you have farther to fall
walk, never run, through life
what’s the hurry anyway?
we’re all going to reach the end some day
take it slow
make it last
remember it for what you accomplished
accomplished goals can be learned from
but failure is where the real teaching comes
losing to yourself is winning
silent running on your sinking submarine
only you can make it nuclear
reactions acting as survival
fighting the loss of everything
fight for air so you don’t drown
overwhelming, at times
underwhelming, hopefully never
when you stop being challenged
you stop living
you make your own goals
and life will follow them
but only if you listen
